Destination Bluegrass

Destination Bluegrass was a Washington DC area band that played circa 1974 through 1977. They played traditional and contemporary bluegrass but arrangement made for a very unique sound. Instrumental jams in the middle of a traditional song would keep things interesting. The band had steady gigs at the Glenmont Inn in, Glenmont Maryland and also at the Allstate Inn in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Occassionally they would perform at The Red Fox in Bethesda, Maryland. Joe Tangrea, banjo; Carter Ayres, guitar; Sam Sheppard, bass; Roger Green, mandolin, Dave Williams, dobro. The guest fiddler in this picture taken at the Glenmont Inn, is Bob Tangrea, Joe's brother.
