Roger & the Real Good Pickers
Roger & The Real Good Pickers was the name I used inbetween bands. After managing bands, getting gigs etc. you keep in touch with promoters and vendors. These promoters and vendors keep giving you gigs to play and it's so hard to turn them down, especially having worked so hard to establish the relationship. So when ever I got a gig and I didn't have a band, I would put together a pick up band and call it Roger & the Real Good Pickers. It's always easy to get good pickers to fill in for you as long as you pay them. This version of "The Real Good Pickers" fetures Norman Wright on the mandolin, Dick Smith on banjo, and Bob Goff Jr on base. The weakest link in this whole setup was me. If I hadn't been writing the checks they probably would have fired me.
